Nikki and her best friend Panda

1Last Friday, there was a dance that all my friends were going to called Neon Nights.  There was going to be a black light so we all obviously had to wear neon things so we could all be glowing.  After school, my friends Lexi, Nikki, Dane, Jackie, Veronica, Olivia, Alex, Mary, and I, all went downtown to get cool outfits.  We actually ended up staying for a while because we wanted to have the best outfits there.  We went to Forever 21, H&M, and of course American Apperal.  It was a really hot day and Nikki and I were kinda getting over shopping and walking around so we decided to go get food.  She loves meat so we went to Panda Express because she wanted orange chicken.  Panda did not sound too good at the moment because it was a hot day but when we got inside the smell was too much to not get it.  We both ended up getting kids meals and we ate everything in like 5 minutes… Nikki also ate the 5 cookies that she stole.  It was a fun time at Panda, comment if you like Panda too!

COOKIES

The other day my friend Ale, who I have talked about before in some of my previous posts, got a little bored and decided she was going to bake cookies.  She has very strong self-control because when she bakes, she chews gum and doesn’t eat any of it!  That is unreal to me because I usually eat spoonfuls of cookie dough and then when the cookies are done, I eat about five of them.  I just don’t understand how she can do it, but she always does.  The cookies she made this time were just normal chocolate chip cookies, which you just cant go wrong with.  They were delicious, but she did not stop there.  She added Carmel on top of the each cookie and they were so good.  Since she doesn’t eat whatever she bakes, shes gives them all away and luckily I get some of them.  If you haven’t had anything Ale has made before, you really should.

Happy Birthday to Katie!

This weekend my friend Katie turned 16 and to celebrate her birthday she had a little get together at her house.  There was soooo much food and it was amazing!  As soon as I walked in the door, I could smell warm chocolate and I was in love.  She had a chocolate fountain with strawberries, pound cake, vanilla wafers, brownies, and a few other options to dip in the chocolate fountain.  I am not sure how I did not take a picture because I document everything in my life, but I was probably too busy stuffing my face.  Her mom also had cut up a watermelon and put mint, lime zest, and sugar on it and it was soooo delicious.  They also had a cotton candy maker and I loved it so much I was just eating the sugar.  To top off all the good food we were eating, they had a wide variety of south coast deli sandwiches and I was in heaven.  After that we just swam and had cake, there was an amzaing coconut cake and a very rich chocolate one, and I had a great time! Happy birthday to my friend Katie!!

Pizza Making

One of my family’s favorite dinners is pizza.  We are trying to find an outdoor pizza oven right now because we make pizza so much and it would be quite cool to have one.  Right now we have these pizza stones that we bought and you put them on top of the BBQ.  It still makes pretty great pizza, but we think the pizza oven would be even better.  My favorite pizza to make is not even a classic pizza, it is more of a flat bread type thing.  I have talked about it before in one of my earlier blog posts, the rosemary, salt, and olive oil one.  Yesterday we tried a new dessert pizza.  We happened to have a calzone maker… I am not exactly sure why, but we used it and make a Nutella and strawberry calzone.  It really was delicious and I would definitely do it again because it is a homemade dessert that it pretty easy to make!

Water or Fish Guts?

This past Sunday, my friend Lexi and I wanted to be adventurous and go outside our white girl Via Vai lunch.  This was a big deal or us and it was a very difficult decision, but we wanted sushi… even though we don’t even like fish.  We called my cousin and asked her where to even get sushi and her dad told us to go to Sushi Terri.  When we walked in we were debating whether or not to stay inside because it smelled so disgusting in there.  We decided to give it a try so we sat down.  We didn’t even know how to order.  I ordered a thing of rice and an avocado/cucumber roll and Lexi ordered miso soup, which she said, “the tofu tasted like balls of fire”  and a chicken roll.  The water tasted so bad and the food was alright…  We found a hair on one of the rolls which was kinda sad.  When we got home we ate Oreos, pizza, and more cookies.  For some weird reason, we had the best time ever and we couldn’t stop laughing.  We probably came close to burning off all the calories from one Oreo we had.  It was another wonderful Sunday with my dear friend Alexis.

Pasta Mad Lunch

After the last Mad lunch that was burritos that was not very good and kinda depressing, I was very happy to find out this month was pasta.  You simply just cannot go wrong with pasta.  Hot or cold, any type of pasta is good.  My favorite was the pesto pasta, but it was a little awkward temperature, it was either supposed to be hot but it wasn’t hot still, or it was supposed to be cold and it was heated up from the sun or something, but it was still good.  The moms in the line for food just kinda threw all the different kinds on my plate and I was a little sad when part of my plate was wasted with the weird salami pasta.  For some reason this months desserts were delicious.  They had cookies in individual wrappers that were absolutely amazing if you let them sit in the sun for a little bit, that way they were slightly melted and just so so good.  The brownies also had to be homemade because they are more rich than the Ghirardelli brownie mix.  Over all I would say this was a very successful Mad lunch which makes me pretty happy because it was one of the last ones.

Mad Lunch

If you are not in the Mad Academy at Santa Barbara High School, I feel really bad for you.  Mad has so much to offer, including the lunches!  I believe it is every second Wednesday of the month and each time it is some sort of delicious foods that the parents make and bring in.  My favorite lunch was probably the different soups and the cornbread, because I love the soup that my mom brought in and corn bread is my weakness… Well actually now that im thinking about it, maybe the Mac n Cheese lunch was my favorite.  That week my plate was piled to the very top and it was stacked with all different kinds.  Of course I finished my whole plate and for dessert that day I had a doughnut.  This weeks lunch was burritos, not my favorite because there wasnt much variety and it was just beans, cheese, chicken, and rice.  I was a little disappointed about that… but the dessert completely made up for it.  There was a whole ice cream sunday set up!  I had so much ice cream, with chocolate and Carmel cause, crushed Oreos, crushed butterfingers, crushed every single candy bar you can think of, M&M’s, gummy bears, and whipped cream.  I didn’t have the whipped cream though, because it is not my favorite.  Check out the Mad Academy website here!

Can’t Go Wrong with Oreos

My title is pretty true.  You really can not go wrong with Oreos.  There is no possible way.  This valentines day, my mom got me a huge box of them and yes I finished them in about three days.  I didn’t need them… but why not?  Thankfully there are many possible combinations you can make with these cookies and that is probably one of the reasons they are Americas favorite cookie.  One of my favorite things to do with them are to soak them in milk until they are gooshy and then eat them with a spoon.  One of my sisters hates them like this, but I love it.  Another favorite is making them into a milkshake.  I’m not the best at it, I just throw in some vanilla ice cream, milk, and ice and hope for the best and surprisingly it’s not bad.  Peanut butter is also very good with Oreos.  Lastly, you can make chocolate chip cookies and put an Oreo inside of the cookie dough and they are so good!  What do you like to do with your Oreos?

Girl Scout Cookies

I believe everyone can agree with me that this is the best time of the year, girl scout cookies season.  These cookies are amazing and its a good thing they are not sold all year round because I would be huge.  I probably have about one whole box a day.  My favorite flavors are Samoas (carmel deLites)Tagalongs (peanut butter patties)Trefoil (shortbread), and of course, my all time fave, Thin Mints.  The best thing is when you put thin mints in the freezer and they are perfectly frozen when you eat them.  My dad doesn’t really like desserts, or at least he pretends he doesn’t until everyone is sleeping and then he eats desserts.  This weekend he ate three whole boxes of frozen mints and I was pissed.  He basically just wastes them because he doesn’t even eat them, he just inhales them.  It was a very sad day when I found out all of them were gone.  Comment your favorite type of girl scout cookie!

Already Easter for Me

I know Easter is so far away, but this weekend when my dad gave my little brother and i money to go to the grocery store, I couldn’t resist.  Anyone who has had Pillsbury cookies knows that they are the best in the business for pre-made cookies.  So of course I wait for every new season or holiday to come so we can get these cookies.  My little brother and I ended up getting two packs, because in my house, with six people, one pack of them would just not be enough.  We actually made the cookies last night and now there is only about four or five of them left.  Even though these cookies are super easy and good for people who are not very gifted in this area, I still somehow managed to burn my fingers on the cookie sheet i was using.  If you are interested in these cookies and have never tried them, go to any grocery store near you and pick them up, they are amazing!
